Description

No one steps on Archer land. Not if they value their life. But when Meredith Hayes overhears a lethal plot to burn the Archer brothers off their ranch, a twelve-year-old debt compels her to take the risk.

Fourteen years of constant vigilance hardens a man. Yet when Travis Archer confronts a female trespasser with the same vivid blue eyes as the courageous young girl he once aided, he cant bring himself to send her away. And when an act of sacrifice leaves her injured and her reputation in shreds, gratitude and guilt send him riding to her rescue once again.

Four brothers. Four straws. One bride. Despite the fact that Travis is no longer the gallant youth Meredith once dreamed about, she determines to stand by his side against the enemy that threatens them both. But will love ever be hers? Or will Travis always see her merely as a short-straw bride?

    Plot - 3.5
    Writing style - 4
    Characters - 3.5
    Romance - 4

In which a twenty-year-old girl marries the reclusive man of her dreams who is 7 years older than her. Read as they struggle with their feelings to each other and realized how they badly crave each other's touch.

Plot - quite interesting since I've never read a book that has a plot like this. Although, the more I read, the more boring it gets. There seems to be a pattern to this novel. They have this little quarrel and then they began looking at each other as if their next meal are one another and then, after that, nothing happens, they fight again. Nevertheless, I still find some scenes and monologues entertaining.

Writing style - well, despite my little hatred to the plot, I must say, I do enjoy the writing style. Fast-paced and sometimes, the dialogues are hilarous. Read it in one sitting.

And what I absolutely like is that we get to read the minds of these two leads instead of just the female lead's.

Characters - to be honest, I really don't favor the characters. The heroine I like because she seems so beautiful inside and out but the male lead? Uhmmm, I don't think so. For me, he's a grumpy 29-year-old "handsome" man. I get it, given his circumstances, he has the right to became possessive and like really, really bossy but still.

Romance - I do really, really like the romance in the beginning but throughout most of the book, I loathe it. I mean, their encounter twelve years ago was just so dreamy despite the accident.

I cannot help myself from wincing while reading the novel because I just can't truly feel the male lead's love towards the girl. I get it, he somehow was attracted to her when she was like 10 years old and that, 12 years later, he found her really beautiful and brave but forgive me, I think he's just intoxicated at the fact that after 14 years in recluse, he can finally get laid.
